About the actual car
The GR Yaris Rally 1 Hybrid is a top-category machine developed by Toyota, which competes in the World Rally Championship (WRC), in accordance with the new regulations for 2022. A 1.6-liter direct-injection turbo engine is combined with a hybrid unit consisting of a 3.9kw/h battery and a motor-generator unit, making it possible to produce a maximum output of over 500PS during acceleration. The gearbox is a 5-speed with mechanical shift. It is a four-wheel drive equipped with mechanical differentials at the front and rear. The chassis is a space frame structure in accordance with the regulations. The front and rear suspension uses MacPherson struts. The 2023 model improved cooling efficiency and aerodynamic performance by changing the air ducts on the sides of the body. It performed well, winning the first round of the season, Rally Monte Carlo, and the third round, Rally Mexico, which was the first gravel rally. Driver Kalle Rovanper? won the championship, and Toyota won the constructors' championship.
