■ Description
This is an introduction to the all-new gold 1/72 gramman AF-2 Guardian from the Czech Soda. Both kits are equipped with a painting mask and two decals, and canopies can be opened or closed. When completed, they will be about 184 mm long and 257 mm wide.
The Guardian was the first anti-submarine attack aircraft to be built and the largest single-shot piston engine ever operated by the U.S. Navy. In 1942, the U.S. Navy launched plans to develop a variety of new aircraft, and in 1944 it decided that the twin-shot XTB2F bomber was too large to be designed for actual operation, and in 1945 an XTB3F hybrid bomber with a jet engine at the tail end was developed. Shortly thereafter, the Navy changed its mission from lightning to anti-submarine. The XTB3F-1S, which took off the jet engine, was designed. Because it was unable to combine the two-shot XTB2F bombers at the time, all of the XTB/APS search engines fitted to the aircraft's belly radios, the XTB-1S was designed to be used as a "hunting bomber", and the STB-2S was designed to carry a variety of anti-submarine engines.
