About the real car.
During the post-World War II East-West Cold War, the Trabant, commonly known as the Trabi, was a national car produced in East Germany. It was built in 1958 by the East German manufacturer VEB Saxsenling. The Type 601 was a late model produced from 1961 onwards. The body, which was said to be made of barbed wire, was heat-pressed and molded into a composite fiber made of waste cotton and phenolic resin. The engine had an air-cooled straight-line two cylinder two cycles with a discharge of 593 cc. The body was positioned on the front and drives the front wheels.

It's about the model.
The model is a plastic model assembly kit that has long been popular in East Germany, replicating the Trabi on a 1/35 scale. It models the two-door sedan type of the late-model Trabi 601. It has over 80 parts points.
