About the actual motorcycle
The G50 is a racing bike developed by the British motorcycle manufacturer Matchless. It was developed in 1958 based on the 350cc AJS7R. Approximately 180 units were produced between 1958 and 1963, and it was active in motorcycle racing. The engine is a SOHC air-cooled single cylinder with a displacement of 496.6cc. It produced 51 horsepower at 7200 rpm. Compared to the Norton Manx, a rival machine that was active in the Isle of Man TT races and other races of the same era, it was inferior in engine power, but it competed with its superior handling, such as cornering performance. It won the 1962 Finnish GP and also came in second in several other races. It is recorded as one of the legendary motorcycles that has made its mark in history.
About the model
This is a plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the British motorcycle, Matchless G50, in 1/9 scale. With a finished length of 220mm, this model realistically reproduces the styling of a 1950s racer, including the engine and frame. The upright single-cylinder engine is meticulously modeled, with details such as the cylinder block with cooling fins, the carburetor, and the megaphone-type exhaust pipe. The frame on which it is mounted also faithfully reproduces its shape. In addition, metal coil springs are used for the front and rear suspension, making it movable even after completion. Furthermore, the simple single seat, large tank, small windscreen, and delicate front and rear spoke wheels combine to create a classic Matchless form that is not to be missed.
