●Dorami also inherits the coated hull and turret parts
About the actual vehicle
The King Tiger heavy tank, equipped with the highly powerful 88mm gun as its main armament, was completed in 1943 during World War II and began combat deployment in 1944. It adopted the 71-caliber 88mm KwK43 tank gun, which had a longer barrel than the Tiger I, as its main armament. In addition, the turret's frontal armor reached 180mm and the hull's maximum armor reached 150mm, making it a powerful weapon that could withstand any Allied anti-tank gun. During the development stage, the Porsche design and the Henschel design were produced in competition, and early vehicles were equipped with a curved turret, generally called the "Porsche turret." Later, mass-produced vehicles transitioned to the shape generally called the "Henschel turret."
In the later stages of the war, many German tanks were seen with Zimmerit coating applied to the hull as a countermeasure against magnetic anti-tank mines. The vehicle's surface was coated with a non-magnetic material to neutralize the use of magnetic mines.
About the model
This is a new kit from the Dorami brand, based on a masterpiece kit previously released by Dragon.
This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the King Tiger of World War II. In particular, it features the vehicles of the German Wehrmacht's 505th Heavy Tank Battalion, which was equipped with King Tigers in September 1944 and fought valiantly against the Soviet army on the Eastern Front, starting in Poland. The hull, turret, and other parts are sharply finished. The turret and hull are reproduced with the Zimmerit coating applied to protect against magnetic mines. The details and shape of the coating are also accurately modeled. Two types of turret parts are included: one that reproduces the standard Zimmerit coating and another that reproduces the pattern applied to the vehicles of the 505th Heavy Tank Battalion. The mark of a knight on horseback with a lance, painted on the side of the turret, is also provided as a decal.
