■Product Description
The USS North Carolina was a battleship of the United States Navy and the lead ship of the North Carolina-class battleships. The ship was named after the state of North Carolina, and was the third ship to bear that name. The ship was laid down in 1937 and commissioned in 1941. From 1942, it was assigned to the carrier task force and was tasked with escorting transport convoys and providing direct protection for aircraft carriers. It participated in the Second Battle of the Solomon Islands, where it was torpedoed and heavily damaged, but after repairs it was engaged in escorting carrier task forces and providing support fire for amphibious operations. After the war, it was used as a training ship, and after being stored as a reserve vessel, it was decommissioned and is now a memorial ship. The USS North Carolina was awarded 15 battle stars for its service in World War II. The kit consists of an injection-molded plastic body. The "Standard Edition" includes decals and photo-etched parts, while the "Deluxe Edition" includes the contents of the "Standard Edition" plus additional photo-etched parts, metal gun barrels, wooden deck sheets, deck mask stickers, etc. This is a wonderful kit that recreates the North Carolina as a waterline model with delicate details.
