【Vehicle Description】
The history of the Skyline began in 1957. Initially, the Skyline was born as a luxury passenger car, but after participating in the 2nd Japanese Grand Prix in 1964, its close relationship with racing strengthened the Skyline's character as a sports car, and in 1969, the GT-R was established as a competition base car grade. The GT-R lineage ended in 1973, a time when the oil crisis and other factors created headwinds in the horsepower race for cars. However, it was revived in 1989 with the arrival of the 8th generation Skyline (R32). The GT-R BNR32, which was introduced with the 8th generation Skyline, was a homologation model developed with the pure purpose of "winning races," just like the first generation. Developed specifically for the FIA's Group A regulations, and moreover for the All Japan Touring Car Championship (JTC), the BNR32 was a car that aimed for guaranteed victory, with a 2.6-liter twin-turbo engine and other features that showed that the regulations had been thoroughly studied. As intended, it eliminated all rival cars. Ironically, in the end, there were no more rivals, and the JTC title race took on the appearance of a one-make race for GT-Rs, which ultimately led to the end of the JTC.
The V-SPEC II is a limited edition car planned to celebrate the invincible performance of the BNR32, and its distinguishing features are the 17-inch BBS wheels and 245/45R17 size tires (225/50R17 for the V-SPEC), and the large Brembo calipers visible through the spokes.
[Model Description]
The V-SPEC II, a limited edition car released to commemorate the BNR32's three consecutive victories in the All Japan Touring Car Championship (JTC), has been faithfully modeled in 1/18 scale.
The prototype was designed based on 3D scan data taken from the actual car after thorough research at the Nissan Heritage Collection. In modeling, the distinctive character lines flowing along the side of the body and the degree of bulge of the fenders have been objectively scaled down from the actual car's form without any exaggeration or emphasis.
The windows are made from injection-molded plastic parts after creating new molds to harmonize well with the beautiful body lines. The V-SPEC II's distinctive external features include BBS mesh wheels, 245/45R17 tires, and Brembo brakes, which are accurately reproduced in this model using newly designed parts. The wheels are made of injection-molded ABS plastic, achieving both sharp molding and the reproduction of BBS's delicate mesh while maintaining the rigidity necessary to firmly support the heavier 1/18 scale model. Attention has also been paid to the tire size, which is slightly wider than that of the V-SPEC. The interior, including the unique seat shape of the BNR32 known as the mono-form bucket seat, has been scaled down to pursue accuracy in design and size. The texture of materials such as the leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and the seats made of Toray's state-of-the-art Exceine material at the time, is expressed by adjusting the gloss of the paint. The V-SPEC II, equipped with mesh wheels as standard, is reminiscent of the BNR32 race cars from the early days of JTC participation, making it a highly coveted model for GT-R fans. We would be delighted if you would consider adding this to your GT-R model car collection. The color lineup will include the five colors that were available for the V-spec II.
