This is a 1/43 scale handmade model car of the "Porsche 911 (997.2) GT3 RS4.0 2012" produced by "EIDOLON".
This model reproduces the "Porsche 911 GT3RS 4.0", a limited edition car released in 2012 with the same displacement as the GT3R.
【Vehicle Description】
Since its debut in 1964, the Porsche 911 is now in its eighth generation with the current 992 series. Nowadays, models from the air-cooled engine era before the fourth generation command very high prices, but the GT3 series grade cars from the water-cooled engine generation from the fifth generation onwards are supported by enthusiastic Porsche fans. As you can guess from the grade name, the GT3 is a model that has been made lighter and more high-performance in order to meet the homologation set by the FIA. The GT3 also has an RS (Renn Sport; Racing Sport) version, which is even lighter and has competition specifications. A characteristic of the GT3 series is that each generation is equipped with a naturally aspirated unit that has the highest output. The GT3 grade of the 997 series was added to the lineup in 2006, two years after the introduction of the standard model (2004). In 2009, the 911 GT3 underwent a facelift and became known as the 997.2 type (late model), and the displacement was increased to 3.8L. Engine power increased by 20 horsepower compared to the 997.1 type (early model) to 435ps. The final completed version was the GT3 RS4.0, which was produced in a limited run of only 600 units in 2011. As the name suggests, the biggest highlight is the engine, which has been enlarged to 3,996cc from the same bore x stroke ratio as the pure racing car GT3R, and is tuned to produce 500 horsepower despite being naturally aspirated. The body makes extensive use of CFRP material, the roof is made of magnesium, and the rear window and rear quarter glass are made of polycarbonate, resulting in thorough weight reduction and a vehicle weight of only 1,360 kg.
It is also equipped with a wealth of specially designed aero parts, and the basic body colors are white or black, with a silver stripe in the center. It has now become one of the most sought-after collector cars of the 997, with a market price said to exceed 100 million yen.
[Model Description]
Although the GT3 RS4.0 was officially imported into Japan, it is said that there were only about a dozen units, making it an extremely rare existence. However, in creating the model, we were able to conduct interviews with the actual car in Japan and create the prototype data based on 3D scans and detailed photographs.
The most distinctive feature of the front mask is the gill-like canards (thrust spoilers), which have been represented as separate parts.
The center-lock wheels are crafted by machining brass to create the prototype, which is then replaced with white metal cast parts, resulting in a sharp, detailed mold that perfectly replicates the slender spokes.
The GT3 RS4.0's distinctive feature is its high-quality interior, which is both competitively styled in all black and generously adorned with leather and Alcantara. The roll cage and sports seats have been newly created to faithfully reproduce the hard-edged image of the actual car. Even in hard-to-see areas, such as the carbon fiber shells of the seats, attention has been paid not only to the design but also to the texture.
The dedicated rear wing uses etched parts for the legs and endplates, and resin for the main wing, accurately tracing the shape of the parts on the actual car.
The most eye-catching feature of the GT3 RS4.0's exterior, the silver stripes, are applied as decals, then coated with a clear paint finish, and further polished to create a mirror-like finish that blends seamlessly with the body color.
