About the actual aircraft
The F-104J Starfighter "Glory" was an interceptor fighter operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force from 1962 to 1997. Development began in the United States in 1952, and the first flight took place in 1954. The US Air Force began operating the F-104J in 1954. With its distinctive style resembling a rocket equipped with wings, it was powered by a General Electric J79 turbojet engine. It boasted a top speed of Mach 2. In addition to the United States, it was adopted by Germany and other NATO countries, and was also deployed by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. Both the single-seat F-104J and the two-seat F-104DJ were deployed, and it is said that 210 F-104J aircraft were deployed.

About the kit
This is a 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the F-104J operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. This kit reproduces an aircraft that was specially painted in 1984 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 204th Squadron's founding. The finished model has a total length of approximately 347mm, and the parts are made by Kinetic, which produces a sharp finish and realistically reproduces the distinctive slim and sharp appearance. Not only the shape but also the panel lines are well expressed, and the finished product has a great sense of realism. The level of detail is a testament to the 1/48 scale. The delicate details of the cockpit interior, landing gear, and landing gear bays enhance the overall finish. The radar is also modeled inside the nose cone. The air brakes can be assembled in either the open or closed position, and the equipment cover at the rear of the cockpit can also be assembled in either the open or closed position. The markings are a reproduction of the special markings applied in 1984 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 204th Squadron, using decals from Cartograf of Italy.
