Modernized Aircraft Type I is an aircraft that has been modified to enhance the F-15's fire control radar and other equipment.
In 2008, an IRST (Infrared Operational Tracking System) was experimentally installed in front of the canopy.
Modernized Aircraft Type II was deployed to the Flight Development and Test Wing in March 2007, and subsequently to the 306th Squadron.
