The 170 series Crown, which appeared in 1999, was notable for being divided into two series: the luxury Royal and the performance-oriented Athlete, the return of a sedan body with window frames after a long time, and the fact that the wagon, which had been continuously produced since the 130 series that appeared in '87, was finally redesigned under the name Estate.
