The Mitsubishi Fuso Aero Bus (MS725 series), released in 1982, was a huge hit as a vehicle that changed the image of tour buses up to that point, incorporating numerous new mechanisms such as a rivetless aero form boasting a drag coefficient of 0.592 and the first front independent suspension for a large bus in Japan. In 1988, it underwent a minor change to become the later model and was produced for a long period until 1992. Even now, 40 years after the actual vehicle's debut, it remains a famous vehicle in the history of tour buses with many fans.
The Hankyu Bus specification is now available in the popular TLV-NEO Aero Bus series.
Hankyu Bus is a major operator headquartered in Osaka Prefecture. Although the express bus service was transferred to its subsidiary, Hankyu Kanko Bus, the eye-catching color scheme of elegant purple and black stripes remains intact. At the time, the company name "HANKYU" was not printed but was a three-dimensional decoration, giving it an even more luxurious appearance.
Vehicle 88-2161 was introduced in 1988 on the "Kinmai Line," which connects Shin-Osaka Terminal to Miyazu and Higashi-Maizuru. It was a luxurious specification with a spacious 9-row seating arrangement and facilities such as a toilet, car phone, and various amenities.
