Before the widespread use of minivans like those of today, ambulances were generally wagon-bodied vehicles based on passenger cars.
The Toyota ambulance, in particular, retained the image of the Crown passenger car while significantly increasing the body size to secure the space necessary for emergency activities, and was equipped with a large 6-cylinder 3900cc engine to enhance its power performance.
Three generations of the bonnet-type (sometimes called the Metropolitan type depending on the era) Toyota ambulance, which retained the image of the Crown, were produced by around 1971, and all of them were attractive for their sleek style that took advantage of their large body size.
The FS55V model, the final model, was especially well known, as it was also produced as a Tomica product in the past and was a long-selling item for about 20 years.
A modified version of the Toyota Ambulance FS55V, which was also produced as a TLV product last year as part of Tomica's 55th anniversary project, is now available.
This time, we will be reproducing the specifications of the ambulance that was stationed at the Honda Fire Station in Katsushika Ward, under the jurisdiction of the Tokyo Fire Department.
This will be enjoyable for a variety of fans, including those who have fond memories of playing with Tomica in the past, those who like emergency vehicles, and those who love the Showa era.
