Three popular Shōwa emergency vehicles
Before one-box cars like the one we have today, ambulances were commonly based on passenger cars.
Specifically, Toyota ambulances, while retaining the image of a crowned passenger car, have significantly expanded their body size to provide the space needed for emergency services, and have been fitted with a 3,900 cc six-cylinder engine for large cars, as well as improved performance.
Three generations of Toyota ambulances were produced by 1971, all of them with their elongated body sizes.
Especially the final version, the FS55V, was well-known for being produced in old-fashioned t-shirts and for being a long-seller for about 20 years.
Last year, Tomica's 55th anniversary project featured a modified version of Toyota's FS55V, which was also produced by TLV.
This time, I'm going to re-create the specifications that were used by the Tokyo Fire Department's headquarters in Nagano Fire District, Geo Prefecture.
For those of you who have memories of playing Tomika, for those of you who love emergency vehicles, for those of you who love Shōwa, for all your fans.
