■Product Description
When the Iraqi army invaded Kuwait in August 1990, the United States and other Western countries immediately launched countermeasures and moved their troops toward the Middle East. The Iraqi army was given a deadline for withdrawal and Operation Desert Shield was launched. The U.S. Air Force first deployed F-15Cs from the 71st Squadron (71TFS) of the 1st Tactical Wing (1TFW) to Saudi Arabia. This unit was the first U.S. combat unit to land to support Operation Desert Shield. Other units, such as the 33rd Fighter Wing (33TFW), were also dispatched to various bases in Saudi Arabia. When Operation Desert Storm began on January 17, 1991, each F-15 unit engaged in escort missions for attack aircraft, shooting down Iraqi Air Force MiGs and Mirage F-1s one after another. During the Gulf War, the number of aircraft (including helicopters) that were recognized as shot down by F-15s reached 35, and it became a one-sided game with no losses or downs suffered.
This kit features a newly molded part to recreate the vertical stabilizer equipped with a rear warning antenna to match the aircraft.
The kit includes markings for an aircraft belonging to the 33rd TFW with the "GULF SPIRIT" mark on the nose, a MiG killer aircraft with kill marks painted on it, and an aircraft with kill marks from the 71st TFS.
