■Product Description
●The legendary kit from the old Essi is back!
This is a 1/24 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Gr.5, a Group 5 racing car that appeared in 1979.
About the actual car
The World Sportscar Championship, which was held under Group 5 regulations from 1976, was dominated by Porsche, which developed the 935 Turbo based on the 911 Turbo. Then, in 1979, Lancia of Italy made its long-awaited entry into the competition. The machine was the Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Gr.5, which was developed based on the Lancia Beta Montecarlo, a mid-engine sports car that was unveiled at the 1975 Geneva Motor Show. Dallara was in charge of the chassis and other parts during development, and Pininfarina was in charge of the body design. The engine was a 1425cc inline 4-cylinder with a KKK turbocharger, in order to match Division 2, which was contested in the 2-liter class. It made its debut at the Silverstone 6 Hours held at Silverstone in 1979. Although it retired from its debut race due to trouble, it went on to win several races and became the champion of the 2-liter class. The following year, 1980, it also became the overall champion, achieving great success.
About the model
This is a 1/24 scale plastic model assembly kit of the Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Gr.5, a Lancia machine that was active in the World Sportscar Championship from 1979 to 1981. It has 122 parts, and the finished length is 186mm and the width is 81mm. It is a full detail kit that also reproduces the mid-mounted engine. The transversely mounted mid-engine is reproduced in detail, including auxiliary equipment such as the turbocharger. The configuration of the subframe on which the engine is mounted is also not to be missed. The suspension is a faithful model of the MacPherson strut mechanism at the front and rear. The cockpit also expresses the spartan atmosphere in detail. The body is divided into three sections—center, front, and rear—and features Pininfarina's design, recreating a powerful yet elegant style. The markings reproduce car number 68, which participated in the 1981 24 Hours of Le Mans. This is a must-have for car model fans.
