The 1970s were an era of technological competition in Formula One, with a constant stream of innovative ideas being created to make cars faster. Among them, the March 240 is a legendary six-wheeled F1 machine born from a different concept than the Tyrrell P34. Conceived by March co-founder Robin Herd, the 240, as its name suggests, adopted a unique layout of two wheels in the front and four in the rear. It was an innovative project that aimed to increase the contact area of the tires by making the rear wheels four wheels, thereby improving driving force and cornering performance. In F1 at the time, with the limitations on tire width and the development of ground effect technology, how to efficiently obtain grip had become a crucial theme, but the March 240, by making the rear tires smaller and arranging them in a four-wheel configuration, was expected to not only improve mechanical grip but also to have the effect of regulating the airflow to the rear wing. This model reproduces the prototype specification of the March 240, which never ended up being used in actual races. The white body that was unveiled was produced as a vehicle for announcements and photo shoots for the media. Although it never actually raced in an F1 race, its bold six-wheel design became a symbol of the free development competition in F1 in the 1970s. A unique machine that took a completely opposite approach to the Tyrrell P34, it's a model that will go down in history.
