McLaren won Le Mans in 1995 with a short-body F1 GTR. In response to Porsche's introduction of the 911 GT1, the 1997 model featured a long-tail body, while also undergoing significant weight reduction and the introduction of sequential schilds. This machine was entered by Gulf Team Davidoff McLaren, but unfortunately, it was retired from the race due to an accident.
