The McLaren M28, which competed in the 1979 season, was an ambitious project developed by incorporating the ground effect concept that was rapidly gaining popularity in Formula 1. Equipped with a Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine, it featured a completely redesigned aerodynamic design for the side pontoons and the underside of the car. It was a challenging machine sent out to cope with the new era of Formula 1, but the development competition with rivals was fierce, and it did not achieve good results. This model reproduces the 1979 Spanish GP specification driven by Patrick Tambay, who would later also have a successful career with Ferrari. The M28, which was quickly succeeded by the M29, is an interesting car in the history of McLaren's technology, as it laid the foundation for the next generation of machines through trial and error.
