【About the actual vehicle】
The sIG33 III self-propelled gun is an assault infantry gun that mounts a 15cm heavy infantry gun on the chassis of the Sturmgeschütz III. It was one of the vehicles developed and equipped by the German army in World War II, and 24 units were produced by Alkett in 1942. The chassis used was the Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. E and F/8, on which a large fixed fighting compartment was installed. The main gun was a 15cm sIG33 heavy infantry gun. Development of this infantry gun began in 1927, and it was officially adopted in 1933. Production was mainly carried out by Rheinmetall, and approximately 4,600 units were produced by the end of the war. It was capable of using high-explosive shells, shaped-charge smoke rounds, and blast rounds. Self-propelled guns equipped with these were developed for various vehicles, one of which was the sIG33III self-propelled gun, which participated in the Battle of Stalingrad and fought until the end of the war.
【About the Model】
This model is a 1/72 scale plastic model assembly kit of the sIG33III self-propelled heavy infantry gun. The fighting compartment, built on top of the Sturmgeschütz III hull, is made up of parts using the latest precision 3D printing technology. Details such as the hooks on the sides of the fighting compartment, the partial undercuts, and the handles attached to the fighting compartment doors are reproduced using 3D printing technology, enhancing the detail of the finished product. The lower part of the hull is made of familiar plastic molded parts. The hull of the Panzer III is reproduced down to the running gear. The tracks use NeoTrack, which is easy to assemble with some parts being one-piece and some being linked. In addition, the 15cm infantry gun main gun is reproduced with fine 3D printing technology, including the gun mount that fits inside the fighting compartment. The gun barrel features detailed rifling on the inside, and the mount, gun breech, and other mechanical parts are also reproduced in detail. This is a comprehensive 1/72 scale kit that faithfully reproduces the unique shape and main gun mechanism.
