The Saab 2000 is a 50/58-seat class twin-engine turboprop aircraft for regional aviation, developed by the Swedish company Saab following the success of the Saab 340 commuter aircraft. It made its maiden flight in 1992, and 63 aircraft were manufactured until production ended in 1999. It was mainly operated in Europe, but in 1997 the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Transport (then the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) also introduced two aircraft as flight inspection aircraft, and they were in operation until 2019.
