Tom Daniel is a popular American designer. He is known for designing mainly automobiles and motorcycles. He is also famous among modelers as the designer of various Monogram model kits. The Extreme Shovel is a deformed kit that he designed for Monogram. Released in 1972 by Monogram, it uses a snap-fit assembly method that does not require glue for easy assembly and has a reduced number of parts in 1/32 scale. Tom Daniel deformed it based on the hydraulic excavators seen at road construction sites. He arranged the mechanical shape of the hydraulic excavator into a hot rod image. It became very popular among fans.
