【About Ed Roth】
Ed Roth was a leading figure in American lowbrow art and enjoyed worldwide popularity among young people. He is also known as the creator of Rat Fink, a mouse character familiar to American car fans. After retiring from the military in the 1950s, he started building custom cars in his home garage. A distinctive feature of his work was his use of fiberglass, which allowed for easy creation of free shapes in order to realize his original designs. Ed Roth gained attention for his custom car production, but he became widely known for his comical design of a mouse, Rat Fink. In the 1960s, merchandise featuring Rat Fink became extremely popular among young people across the United States. Furthermore, Revell released kits of custom cars designed by Ed Roth, and his name became known to a wider audience. Then, in the 1990s, the custom cars created by Ed Roth began to be recognized as art, contributing to the elevation of the status of hot rod custom culture.
