■Product Description
●Model of a self-propelled gun combining an M4A3 chassis with an M36 turret
This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the B1 type of the M36, an anti-tank self-propelled gun developed and operated by the US military during World War II.
About the actual vehicle
As German vehicles became more heavily armored in the latter half of World War II, the US military also began developing new vehicles to increase its offensive power. Among them, they started developing a self-propelled gun equipped with a 90mm anti-aircraft gun. They developed a self-propelled gun equipped with a newly designed turret that featured a 50-caliber 90mm tank gun M3, which was a modified 90mm anti-aircraft gun converted into a tank gun, replacing the 76.2mm tank gun of the already operational M10 anti-tank self-propelled gun. Production began in April 1944 and it was officially adopted as the M36 anti-tank self-propelled gun in June. Subsequently, to compensate for the shortage of base vehicles, a vehicle was also manufactured that combined the M4A3 tank chassis with an open-top, fully rotating turret equipped with this 90mm gun. It was officially designated as the M36B1, and nearly 200 units were produced from 1944.
About the Model
This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the M36B1, one of the anti-tank self-propelled guns deployed and operated by the US military during World War II. The characteristics of the M36B1 type, which combines the M4A3 chassis with an open-top turret, are accurately reproduced. The finished length is 213mm. The chassis is modeled accurately with the shape and details as front and rear panels are separate parts. The suspension mechanically reproduces the mechanism unique to the M4A3 Sherman tank chassis. The upper part of the chassis has a sufficiently realistic three-dimensional expression with hatches and onboard tools reproduced as separate parts. I'm looking forward to the mechanical finish. The tracks use a matching belt system that makes assembly easy.
