About the actual vehicle
The Transit is a light commercial vehicle produced by Ford in Germany and the UK for the European market starting in 1953. The Transit name, which is still used today, was officially adopted in 1965, and various types such as panel vans and pickup trucks were lined up, with a wide range of wheelbases and engines available. Its high practicality and excellent load capacity made it popular, and it came to be widely used in various fields. Since its introduction, it has undergone repeated model changes to keep up with the times, and production continues to this day, but the Transit Mk.2 was introduced in 1978 and produced until 1985. While retaining the basic layout of front engine, rear drive, it was equipped with an inline 4-cylinder Pinto engine and a V6 Essex engine. In addition, a 2.5-liter, 68-horsepower York diesel engine was added in 1984. It was used by various companies for delivery and other operations, and was also widely adopted and used by the police.
