This is a 1/24 scale plastic model assembly kit of the Porsche 956, a Group C machine developed by Porsche for the World Endurance Championship.
About the actual car
The Porsche 956 was developed by Porsche for the World Prototype Sportscar Championship, which began in 1982 and was contested by machines in a category called Group C. It was characterized by being the first car in racing car history to adopt an aluminum monocoque chassis, and the underside of the chassis was designed with ground effect in mind. The engine was a horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine, typical of Porsche, with a displacement of 2650cc and equipped with two KKK turbochargers, producing 620 horsepower.
It participated from the first race in 1982. It demonstrated overwhelming strength in the Group C class, including winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the fourth race of the season. It brilliantly became the first champion. Furthermore, from 1983 onwards, it was also provided to private teams, and continued to dominate the podium until 1985, becoming a masterpiece racing car that remains in Porsche's history.
