About the actual aircraft
The Macchi MC.205 Bertolo was developed with the aim of further improving the performance of the Macchi MC.202 Folgore, which was said to be a masterpiece among the fighter aircraft developed by Italy in World War II. In line with the R program, which aimed to modernize air force aircraft before World War II, Macchi developed the MC.200. Its evolution, the MC.205, equipped with the German Daimler-Benz DB601A-1 liquid-cooled inverted V-engine producing over 1000 horsepower, demonstrated superior performance. The MC.205 Bertolo was created to further improve performance. It was equipped with the RA1050RC.58 Tifone, a licensed production of the Daimler-Benz supercharged DB605 engine, which produced 1475 horsepower. Deployed to all lines in 1943, it is considered the best Italian fighter aircraft of the war and played a significant role.
About the Model
This is a plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the Macchi MC.205 Bertolo, considered the best Italian fighter aircraft of World War II. A Japanese translation of the instruction manual is also included.
The 1/32 scale model, with over 200 parts, faithfully reproduces this famous Italian aircraft.
The finished model will be 276mm long. The aircraft's dynamic design is captured with the precision only possible in a large 1/32 scale, from panel lines to rivets and other fine details. The differences from the MC.202 Folgore, which has already been modeled and received high praise from modelers, are faithfully reproduced with the addition of dedicated parts. The RA1050RC.58 Tifone engine is reproduced in the nose, from auxiliary equipment to the engine support frame. The cockpit, machine guns, and even the landing gear and landing gear bays are modeled realistically and mechanically. In addition, photo-etched parts are included to give the finished product a sharp look. The cockpit meters are represented by three-dimensional 3D decals. The decals include not only the aircraft markings but also large decals that reproduce the unique camouflage pattern.
