F4U Corsair.
The F4U Corsair was developed in 1938 by the U.S. Navy as a successor to the Buffalo Fighter.・The first flight was made in May 1940 and the first horizontal flight by a U.S. fighter aircraft in October was the first to exceed 400 mph (643 km/h). However, a landing craft test in September 1942 found the aircraft's operation inadequate due to the very poor visibility at landing. This led to the deployment of most of the early production models to the Marines.
F4U-1D
On the basis of the F4U-1A, which became an on-board fighter aircraft, the canopy and propellers were modified to be the F4U-1D. The engine was equipped with an R-2800-8W engine with water spraying equipment, and the main legs were improved to make it easier to carry ships.
