The prototype Type 5 Ho-Ri I tank destroyer was developed based on the chassis of the Type 5 Chi-Ri medium tank.
The plan called for a 105mm gun and a crew of six.
The fighting compartment was located at the rear of the hull, the engine was in the center of the hull, and the driver's seat was in front of the engine.
A photograph of a wooden model of the Ho-Ri I remains, but the prototype was never completed.
The frontal armor was planned to be 125mm, and the sides 25mm.
