■Product Description
The Tachikaze was commissioned in March 1976 as the first ship of the Tachikaze class, the second generation of guided-missile destroyers of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. It was equipped with the Tartar-D, the latest integrated missile system at the time, and was capable of carrying Standard Missiles (SM-1MR). In 1998, it underwent modifications including the removal of the aft gun turret and the establishment of a new command center, and as the flagship of the destroyer fleet, it remained in service until 2007.
