■Product Description
The Asakaze was commissioned in March 1979 as the second ship of the Tachikaze-class, the second generation of guided-missile destroyers of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. It was equipped with the Tartar-D missile system, which at the time integrated the latest information processing and fire control systems, and was capable of operating Standard Missiles (SM-1MR). This ship served in fleet air defense duties for 29 years and was decommissioned in 2008 with the commissioning of the Atago-class Aegis destroyers.
