The I-54 class submarine (Cruiser Submarine Type B Modified 2) was a submarine that was hastily constructed in wartime, with three ships commissioned in 1944. Of these, I-56 and I-58 were operated as ships that carried six Kaiten torpedoes.
I-58 torpedoed and sank a US Navy heavy cruiser shortly before the end of the war. After that, it was in Kure when the war ended.
