The Taigei-class submarine is the successor to the Soryu-class, with the first ship, Taigei, commissioned in March 2022, followed by the second ship, Hakugei, in March of the following year. While its appearance is similar to the Soryu-class, it is equipped with lithium-ion batteries that enable higher capacity and output, improving its diving capabilities.
