■Product Description
The Benson-class destroyers were 1,500-ton class destroyers built under the 1938 program as an improved version of the preceding Sims-class, with 32 ships commissioned.
Learning from the Sims-class's lack of stability due to heavy armament, the number of torpedo tubes was reduced and the engine layout was also revised, but they still exhibited a top-heavy hull design.
The first ship, Benson, was commissioned in April 1940.
During the early stages of the war, it was active in the Atlantic and then transferred to the Pacific in 1945.
After the war, it was transferred to Taiwan in 1954 and remained in active service until 1975.
