■Product Description
The Cleveland-class cruisers were the most numerous cruisers built during World War II, with 27 completed.
Initially, there were plans to build as many as 52 ships, but 9 were built as light aircraft carriers of the Independence class, and the very last models were improved to become the Fargo class, making them representative ships of the time.
This class was an improved version of the preceding Brooklyn class, with the lead ship, the Cleveland, completed in June 1942.
Its relatively compact superstructure and strengthened anti-aircraft armament give it a smart appearance.
It was also divided into early and late models, with the seven early models having a rounded front bridge.
The lead ship, the Cleveland, was immediately deployed to the Pacific War after entering service, sinking the Japanese destroyers Minegumo and Murasame, and participating in various amphibious operations, among other achievements.
