■Product Description
A special edition version of the Akagi (PLUS version) from the Special Series, which comes with precision fitting parts, with the addition of photo-etched parts!
(Basic Specifications)
・It is an assembly type that uses adhesive and is characterized by its detailed construction that pursues the sculpting.
・The molded color is mainly gray, and it is designed to be assembled while enjoying painting.
・The product is modeled after the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and the Midway Island invasion operation in June 1942.
・It is the appearance after the major refit completed in 1938, and the flight deck markings (decals) are provided for the appearance in 1941.
・For the MI operation in June 1942, the flight deck markings for friend or foe identification (Hinomaru) are included, and it is also possible to assemble it as it appeared during the Midway Island invasion operation.
(Structure, Specifications, and Features)
• The hull has a structure where the port and starboard sides are one piece.
• The sloping shape towards the rear of the ship, the numerous portholes, and the complex shape of the hangar side walls are all represented by a single molded part.
• The flight deck is a single piece structure with delicate wooden decking, windbreaks, and expansion joints carved into it.
• The part where the flight deck at the rear of the ship becomes double-layered is reproduced with the lower layer as a separate part.
• The elevators are separate parts.
• The anchor chain deck and boat deck are represented with delicate carvings such as anti-slip split patterns and rails.
• The funnel is a two-part structure with upper and lower parts glued together.
• The strip patterns on the floor, such as the anti-aircraft gun mounts, are represented with fine carvings.
• The truss columns of the flight deck supports (rear) are carved on all four sides.
• The main parts, bottom plate, and machine gun parts are molded in gray.
・Includes 3 types of decals, a total of 4 sheets.
・Includes 1 decal sheet for aircraft markings.
・Includes 2 decal sheets for the ship name at the stern and the white lines on the deck pillars.
・Includes 1 decal sheet containing flight deck markings, the naval ensign, and the flight deck/friendly identification mark (Rising Sun) from Operation MI in June 1942.
・The PLUS version differs from the STD version in that some parts are included to pursue realism.
・The PLUS version includes replacement and additional parts for a 9-meter cutter, 12-meter motorboat, 12-meter motor launch, 13-meter special cargo boat, chrysanthemum emblem, 25mm machine gun, and binoculars.
・Includes a total of 15 aircraft: 5 each of Zero Fighter Type 21, Dive Bomber Type 99, and Carrier Attack Bomber Type 97. The molded color is clear to reproduce the canopy more realistically.
・The 25mm twin machine guns are precisely molded and easy to paint, and come in a two-part design with parts from the 2018 mold included as standard.
・The bridge includes binoculars to enhance the precision of the anti-aircraft command post.
・Etched parts are included to express even the smallest details that are difficult to reproduce with injection molded parts.
・The etched parts include railings, ladders, bridge window frames, direction-finding antennas, chimney footrests, fall prevention railings, boat davits, etc.
