Atago was a heavy cruiser of the Imperial Japanese Navy. It was the second ship of the Takao class. Built at the Kure Naval Arsenal. The ship was named after Mount Atago in Kyoto Prefecture. It inherited the name of the third ship of the Amagi class battlecruiser, which remained unfinished.
