■Product Description
This product features the Kumano of the "Seventh Squadron, First Platoon," which played an active role in the Dutch East Indies invasion operation at the beginning of the Pacific War!
It expresses the characteristics of the later Mogami-class ships and the individual differences between it and its sister ship Suzuya, and further uses additional molds to reproduce the appearance in 1942!
●The product is modeled after the appearance of the fourth Mogami-class ship, "Kumano," around 1942, before the lessons learned from the war were reflected.
●The hull sides use special parts that have a different hull cross-sectional shape from Mogami/Mikuma, and represent the appearance in the first half of the war when the portholes were not yet closed.
Hull Structure
・Special parts that represent the appearance in the first half of the war when the portholes were not closed.
・The external electrical wiring is molded as one piece on the hull, and the equipment position is different from that of Mogami/Mikuma.
Bridge/Foremast
・The foremast is a special part for the 1942 specification, which had a command post added before the start of the war and was not equipped with radar.
・The anti-aircraft command post has a separate part for the lookout binoculars, and the floor surface is precisely represented by the grating flooring through engraving.
Chimney/Air Intake/Linoleum Deck
・The slender chimney, a characteristic of Suzuya/Kumano, is provided as a special part.
・The boiler room air intake below the chimney is reproduced as a special part, with a different shape and size compared to Mogami/Mikuma.
High-Angle Gun Mount/Antenna Support
・The 12.7 cm twin high-angle gun mount is a special part for Kumano/Suzuya, with a protrusion on the back of the gun mount.
・The antenna support installed on the roof of the 3rd/4th main gun turret is a special part that reproduces the shape unique to each ship.
Aft Mast/Aft Bridge/Crane
・The aft mast features a vertical top and a Y-shaped yard, a part exclusive to Kumano that reproduces the difference from Suzuya.
・Features different crane parts from Suzuya and precisely sculpted lightening holes.
The assembly instructions include a mini-explanation that allows you to learn about the names of the fittings and information about the actual ship while you build it.
The package box comes with a mini-box paper craft so you can save the box after assembly.
The Special Series is a 1/700 scale, waterline model that reproduces the area above the waterline.
