The AH-64D Apache Longbow is an advanced version of the AH-64A Apache, an all-weather attack helicopter developed and adopted in accordance with the U.S. Army's Advanced Attack Helicopter (AAH) program. The radar-equipped version was called the AH-64D Apache Longbow, and the non-radar-equipped version was called the AH-64C. However, at the end of 1993, the AH-64C designation was discontinued, and regardless of whether it is equipped with radar or not, it came to be called the AH-64D Apache Longbow.
The most distinctive feature of its onboard sensors is the fire control radar (FCR), also known as the Longbow radar, mounted on top of the main rotor mast. It detects, identifies, and automatically selects attack targets, and through integrated system management, it is a new generation attack helicopter with superior control capabilities in combat.
