■Product Description
The F-104 was developed as a supersonic air superiority fighter.
With its small, lightweight airframe and high-thrust engine,
the F-104, capable of a maximum speed of Mach 2, was said to be the last manned fighter at the time.
However, due to a change in the policy of the U.S. Air Force,
the F-104, which could not be equipped with data links due to its small size, was deployed in small numbers.
However, the F-104G, with its electronics, particularly the fire control system, completely revamped,
and with a larger vertical stabilizer and rudder, was jointly produced in Europe,
and also produced by Lockheed and Canadian Aircraft and used by NATO countries. Furthermore, the F-104S, developed at the request of the Italian Air Force, featured a J79-GE-19 engine with a thrust of 5,380 kg (8,120 kg with afterburner), was equipped with AIM-7 Sparrow missiles, and the radar was changed to the R-21G to enhance its all-weather interception capabilities. At the same time, nine hardpoints were added to increase the amount of external weapons payload and strengthen its ground attack capabilities. The F-104J and the two-seat F-104DJ, which were used by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, were returned to the United States in 1985 and then provided to Taiwan.
