■Product Description
[A main destroyer of the end of the war equipped with powerful anti-aircraft armament]
The Type D destroyer, of which a total of 32 were built in the final stages of the Pacific War, became the main force for convoy escort duties and other tasks. This is a plastic model assembly kit of the Sakura, the 13th ship of the Type D destroyer, which appeared in November 1944 and was lost to a mine in July 1945, shortly before the end of the war. The kit faithfully reproduces the simple style composed of flat surfaces, which is characteristic of Type D destroyers, as well as the Sakura's features, such as the reinforced anti-aircraft armament with the addition of 25mm single machine guns. The molding on the deck, such as the anchor chain, as well as the Type 13 anti-aircraft radar and mast, are also delicately finished. It would be interesting to add the armament and collect other ships of the same class.
