[The fifth ship of the Shiratsuyu-class, characterized by its powerful anti-aircraft armament]
The Special Type and Hatsuharu-class destroyers surprised navies around the world with their high performance and heavy armament. However, these also had problems such as insufficient stability due to their excessive armament. Therefore, the Shiratsuyu-class was newly built with a revised design. This is a plastic model assembly kit of the Harukaze, the fifth ship of the Shiratsuyu-class, which was completed in 1937. The model accurately reproduces the ship as it was after the start of the Pacific War, with its anti-aircraft armament strengthened after the start of the Pacific War, including the replacement of the second rear turret with a 25mm triple anti-aircraft machine gun and the addition of a 5mm triple anti-aircraft machine gun in front of the bridge. Of course, the 12.7cm main guns and torpedo tubes are also sharply finished.
