When the German army first engaged the Soviet T-34 tank in 1941, they realized that all German tanks were obsolete due to the overwhelming performance difference. As a response to the T-34, they released the Panther tank in 1943. The G model was an improvement over the previous D and A models, and production began in March 1944. It featured a hull with sloped armor, a Maybach HL-230 engine producing 700 horsepower, and a powerful long-barreled 75mm gun. The Panther, with its balanced offensive power, defensive capabilities, and mobility, was called the best tank of World War II not only by the German soldiers who fought alongside it, but also by the Allied soldiers who fought against it.
