[About the Challenger 2]
The Challenger 1, the British main battle tank that proved its capabilities in the Gulf War, has been further refined into the Challenger 2. The newly designed turret is equipped with second-generation Chobham armor and a powerful 55-caliber 120mm L30 rifled gun, and the fire control system and electronic equipment have also been greatly enhanced. Deployment to units began in 1998, and in the Iraq War in the spring of 2003, it was deployed as the main force of the 7th Armoured Brigade, nicknamed the "Desert Rats".
