■Product Description
[A giant battleship that the Japanese Navy boasted of, along with the Yamato]
The second ship of the Yamato-class battleships, the giant battleship "Musashi" was built by the Japanese Navy during World War II and reigned supreme in the Pacific. Its most distinctive feature was its nine 46cm caliber main guns. With a maximum range of 41km and the power to penetrate 43cm thick armor plates from a distance of 30km, it was equipped with the most powerful naval guns on its massive hull with a displacement of 70,000 tons. Laid down at the Mitsubishi Nagasaki Shipyard on March 29, 1938, launched on November 1, 1940, and completed on August 5, 1942, the Musashi had great features not only in its offensive power but also in its defensive capabilities and the shape of its hull below the waterline, which had a bulbous bow. Not only did it utilize approximately 21,000 tons of protective armor plating, representing 30% of its standard displacement, but it also adopted a concentrated defense system by minimizing its overall length and centralizing important parts such as the bridge and engine room, achieving superior defensive capabilities. The construction of the Musashi can be said to have left a great legacy on the post-war Japanese shipbuilding industry. After joining the Combined Fleet, the Musashi served as the flagship of the Combined Fleet from February 1943 to the end of March 1944, and then participated in the Battle of the Philippine Sea (Operation Sho-Go 1) in October 1944 as the main force of Kurita's fleet. It was hit by numerous bombs and torpedoes from a concentrated attack by American carrier-based aircraft and sank in the Sibuyan Sea on October 24th. ■Product Specifications
