■Product Description
[The Trump Card of American Tank Destroyers]
The M10 was developed as the first tank destroyer for the American army to counter the powerful German tanks. It utilized the chassis of the M4A2 Sherman tank, which was equipped with a diesel engine, and mounted a powerful 3-inch (76.2mm) gun in an open-top rotating turret. The upper hull and turret adopted sloped armor that provided excellent ballistic protection, resulting in a low profile. Although the armor thickness was moderate to prioritize mobility, the hull and turret were pre-equipped with bolts so that additional armor could be attached as needed. Approximately 5,000 units were produced between September 1942 and December 1943. Superior in mobility and firepower, the M10 first engaged in fire with German forces on the Tunisian front in March 1943, and fought valiantly as the main equipment of tank destroyer battalions on the Italian front, the Northwest European front, and the Pacific theater.
