The JS-2 was a Soviet heavy tank developed to counter powerful German tanks such as the Tiger I and Panther. It combined a powerful long-barreled 122mm gun, heavy armor up to 120mm thick, and excellent mobility, proving effective not only in anti-tank warfare but also in breaking through defensive positions. It contributed to victory as the main battle heavy tank of the Soviet army at the end of the war. Vehicles produced at the Chelyabinsk Kirov Plant (ChKZ) after August 1944 are characterized by a one-piece cast front hull with enhanced protection.
