■Product Description
[The revolutionary mid-engine lightweight sports car is revived]
In 1966, the Lotus Europa adopted a groundbreaking mid-engine layout for its time, and boasted world-class cornering performance thanks to its lightweight FRP body and low profile. Among them, the Special, which appeared in 1972, was the final enhanced version equipped with a 126 horsepower 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder DOHC engine. A 5-speed transmission was available as an option, and aluminum wheels were standard equipment. In addition, the body was adorned with pinstripes reminiscent of the JPS-colored Lotus that was active in F1 at the time, and the lower side was entirely silver regardless of the body color. As a masterpiece of lightweight sports cars created by Colin Chapman, the founder of Lotus, who loved sports cars and was known as an original idea man, it still has many fans all over the world.
