[A memorable and ambitious first purely domestically produced passenger car from Toyota]
The Toyoda AA was Toyota Motor Corporation's first production passenger car, announced in 1936. Its smooth, curved four-door sedan body, which completely changed the image of the boxy passenger cars of the time, was called streamlined. A 3.4-liter inline six-cylinder engine was mounted in the front, driving the rear wheels. In addition to advanced features such as a three-speed transmission with a synchromesh mechanism and hydraulic brakes, the chassis configuration, which mounted the engine on the front axle and achieved a nearly 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, was also a first for a Japanese car, resulting in excellent handling stability and ride comfort. 1,404 units were produced by 1942. The Toyoda AA, a Toyota ambitious creation that combined the technology of the time and remains in the history of Japanese automobiles, is revived in 1/24 scale.
