[About the Early M4 Sherman] The American M4 Sherman series saw nearly 50,000 units produced during World War II. Among the many variants, the early M4 model, produced from July 1942, featured a welded chassis, a turret equipped with a 75mm gun, and an air-cooled radial engine adapted from an aircraft engine. The M4 Sherman participated in battles as the main force of armored units, starting with the North African campaign in early 1943. Its balanced performance and reliability made it a driving force behind the Allied victory.
